Ekiti State Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi, has charged Civil
Servants to obey the rules and regulations guiding the State Civil
Service.
He gave the charge at the Novelty football match which was part of the
activities marking the 2019 Civil Service Week Celebration.
The Football Match between two teams, hosted by the State Sports
Council and headed by the General Manager, Mr. Deji Samo, at the
Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, was graced by
dignitaries, civil servants and sports enthusiasts.
The Permanent Secretaries from various Ministries made up the first
team while female civil servants made up the second team.
The traditional kick-off was performed by the Ekiti State Head of
Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi, in a match that lasted 30 minutes, which
saw both sides share the spoils in a one-all draw.
Mr. Ajayi described the match as one which was aimed at improving the
bonding experience between the top and the younger echelons in the
State Civil Service, adding that it has been a long time coming as
there has been none like this for quite some time.
The Head of Service told the Civil Servants to embrace the principles
of the Founder of the International Olympics Committee, Pierre de
Coubertin, who said, “the most important thing is not to win but to
take part”, describing the Civil Service as a brotherhood, where love
should reign.
Mr. Ajayi then appealed to all in the employ of the Ekiti State Civil
Service to imbibe the mentality of following the rules and guidelines
of the Civil Service, just as the participants have played the match
according to the rules guiding football.
In his words ”Seeing the novelty match as sports and playing it
according to the football rules, our mentality for rule that has been
exhibited here should be taken back to our respective offices to obey
Government rules”.
The spectators were also treated to wonderful performances by some
athletes in a relay race and also by young gymnasts.
In his remarks, the General Manager, Mr. Deji Samo, described the Head
of Service as a sports loving person and appreciated him for his
interest and support in moving Ekiti State Sports forward.
Mr. Samo assured that the athletes in the state will reciprocate the
support received from the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi by
making the state proud.
