The 2019 Eyelua Leadership and Gender Development Initiative (ELGEDi) Holiday Youth Camp is set to position youths of Ekiti state in restoring the core values of the state.
The youth camp holding at Christ Girls School, Ado-Ekiti, is attended by 250 senior prefects of selected public secondary schools and leaders of voluntary youth organisations in the state.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chief (MRS) F.A. Adebayo revealed that the camp was to help re-orientate the youths of the state on the cultural values of Ekiti, which was gradually being eroded by cultures that are alien to the Ekiti people.
She also noted that participants would be commissioned as Ambassadors of Ekiti Core Values after the programme and will thus transfer the knowledge acquired to other students and followers in their respective school and organization.
Hon. Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Value Orientation, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, charged the youths to be focused on their career path.
While giving a talk on ‘The Place of youths in The Restoration of Ekiti Core Values’ at a youth camp organized by the Dynamic Patriotic Women Organization for Senior Prefects of Public Secondary Schools and Voluntary Youth Organizations in Ekiti State. Muyiwa said;
“The impactful accomplishments of this administration are verifiable and do not need to be advertised. The question is, how can the youths in the State connect to the efforts at restoring Ekiti core values and contribute their quota to making Ekiti great again?”
