The news of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential ambition is gaining momentum, with every sector in the Southwest drumming support for the former Lagos Governor. It will be recalled that several groups and caucuses have begun campaign, in earnest, even though Tinubu himself has not made any public pronouncement to that effect.
It is no longer news that Engineer Rauf Aregbesola, the present Minister of Interior and a two term former Governor of Osun, who is a supposed Tinubu man, a friend and confidant has built followers and loyalists across the state during his reign as Tinubu’s right hand man.
Recently, one of Aregbesola’s staunch loyalists threw an insight to what Nigerians should expect with respect to the 2023 Presidential election. Alhaji Abdullai Ayinde Enilolobo, a bossom buddy of Aregbesola confided in some of his cronies that, “Tinubu is not the party’s preferred candidate, particularly in the north, and as events unfold, Nigerians would be shocked to see something different from what we are presently seeing.” He went further to sight instances asking if anybody had seen or heard Asiwaju respond to the different calls for him to contest. He said, “the pendulum is not in Asiwajus’s favour because Asiwaju had been told to be ready for Aregbesola’s nomination by the party faithfuls at the appropriate time.” He further enunciated that, “the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu knew about the northern strategies and its power brokers, and about their plans to present Aregbesola as APC preferred candidate to the party faithfuls in the party primaries next year.
Though Asiwaju was bitter about this, he is also aware that there is absolutely nothing he can not do anything about it.” Enilolobo then advised Asiwaju to channel his energy towards the coming strategies, because it is only God that gives power.
During his interaction with his listeners, Enilolobo continued to exalt his friend and Boss, Aregbesola and he made it clear that he knew the future was bright for them under Aregbesola. He assured his friends that there was nothing to fear as they were in control of Alimosho, the largest Local Government in Nigeria. He boasted that there was no force that could deprive them of their powers and influence on Alimosho. This is Aregbesola’s time and he will continue to shine like the northern Star. He concluded.
