
According to reports, suspected bandits have invaded Eda Oniyo, a town in Ekiti State that shares a border with Kwara State. The attackers reportedly killed a pastor and abducted several church members.
The attack, which occurred a few hours ago, has thrown the entire community into panic, according to local sources. The bandits were said to have entered Eda Oniyo through Obbo Aiyegunle, a town in Kwara State.
Details of the incident are still sketchy, but eyewitnesses said the gunmen, whose identities are yet to be confirmed, stormed the town and targeted a church during an open-air crusade.
According to reports, the church pastor was killed on the spot, while an unspecified number of worshippers were taken away by the assailants to an unknown location.
The incident has sparked widespread fear and concern among residents, with many calling on the Ekiti State Government and security agencies to intervene immediately.
“We can’t continue like this. The government must act fast before these people wipe out our community,” a distraught resident said.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ekiti State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the attack, and the number of abducted victims as well as the identity of the slain pastor remain unconfirmed.
