Court Awards N2m Damages Against Multichoice for Poor Service
Hon. Justice A.M. Lawal of the High Court of Lagos State, sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square Complex, Lagos delivered Judgment in the case of Mr Adeola Olusodo v. Multichoice Nigeria Limited with Suit Number LD/ADR/147/2013 on 30 April 2019, awarding the sum of N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira) only as general damages against Multichoice Nigeria Limited, the owners of the DSTV brand for negligence and breach of contract in the provision of Digital Satellite Television Services to the Claimant, Mr. Adeola Olusodo.
The Claimant through his Counsel Mr. David Ogebe of Ogebe Ogebe Legal Practitioners, instituted the Suit against Multichoice in 2013 for poor quality service provided, and consistent and unwarranted disconnection of service to the Claimant.
After 6 years of a fully contested trial, the Court delivered judgment in favour of the Claimant and found Multichoice liable for breach of contract and negligence.
The Court additionally awarded costs of the action in the sum of N300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) in favour of the Claimant.
