
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fasina, who alongside his Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, visited the bereaved family, described Dr. lawal’s death as not only shocking but bizarre.Also, he commiserated with the FUOYE family, asking God to avert untimely death in the university.
Prof. Fasina, who alongside DVC academics, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu were the early callers at the deceased’s family, described the death of lawal as sad, saying the university had lost one of its finest lecturers.
According to a statement entitled “notification of death of Dr. Abiodun Musbau Lawal” by the University Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim, Dr. Lawal died on Monday, October 28, 2024 after a brief illness.It reads: “The university management wishes to announce the death of Dr. Abiodun M. Lawal of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences.“According to information, Dr. Abiodun M. Lawal died on Monday 28 October 2024 after a brief illness at Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
“The university VIce-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, members of the university management and the entire university community commiserate with the family of Dr. Abiodun M. Lawal on this great and irreplaceable loss.
Commendation service shall be held in his honour at the new Faculty of Science Auditorium by tomorrow Tuesday 29th October, 2024 by 10:00am prompt.“The university management has also made arrangements to convey interested members of staff to Ibadan, Oyo State on Wednesday 30th October, 2024 for his burial.“It is our prayers that God should grant his family and the entire FUOYE community the courage to bear the loss.“May his soul rest in peace. Amen.”
