Can this be indicative of the systemic rot superintendent over by Abayomi? I honestly await a government response if the spokespersons will dare, but with a note of caution that their response be concise in it’s content to the matters raised, otherwise more barrage of supposedly kept secrets will be unearthed in a very calculated and timely approach.
The phrase “a fish rots from the head down” is a metaphor suggesting that problems within an organization or system often originate from its leadership. It implies that if the leaders are corrupt, ineffective, or dysfunctional, the negative effects will permeate throughout the entire organization, leading to a decline in morale, performance, and integrity among the members.
Essentially, it highlights the importance of strong, ethical leadership in maintaining the health and success of a group or organization. What could have emboldened Razak, if not that he had witnessed similar non compliant acts by not only his peers, but also by his immediate seniors?
Falsifying letters to embassies of foreign countries on the official lettered headed paper of the “Secretary to State Government” of Ekiti had never occurred till this incident.The criminal enterprise was exposed by not just one, but several victims of the scam.
Amongst the questions to be asked; whose duty is the role of communicating government business with embassies of foreign countries within the hundreds of special assistants appointed by governor Oyebanji?
How an unauthorized special assistant can pen government instructions without checks and balances is Indicative of systemic failure in governance. Again, for the hundreds of aide appointment, who vets their character integrity and resume to be worthy of entrusting our Commonwealth too?
This is midway into a four year tenure, can we dare say more unsavoury stories of government appointees misappropriating their positions won’t be unearthed? The lessons that stick out in this matter;
1. Government must be more transparent in dealings and reporting of every activity that concerns our Commonwealth, appointees and elected persons are merely holding in trust state affairs and must be reminded that government business is not family business
2. The rule of law must remain paramount, the arrested government appointee mustn’t be kept a day longer in police incarceration without being charged to the courts. There is a limit to the period a citizen can be kept in police custody under arrest without being charged to the Court.
Ekiti mustn’t be turned to a gulag of oppression for government agencies. Other developments of recent in the government circle include reckless abandonment of decorum by very senior members of government.
The latest public trust infraction is by a person of alias “Wike of Ekiti”.
