Ekitikete that used to be known as “Fountain of knowledge”, “Land of Professors” is no more; Ekiti has become a land of praise singers, a hotbed for hallelujah boys, where almost anything goes in order for people to make their daily bread.
How a cargo airport that got a 6 months period test landing approval, an airport surrounded by several controversies including an EFCC Investigation, a cargo airport situated where nothing commensurate to freight cost can be carried out and nothing carried in but private jets, has become a thing of celebration beats the wildest imagination. Yet some continue to say this incumbent governor has a welfarist government led agenda?
Remaining objective, I support the expedient hurried completion of the already “commissioned” airport, least the entire complex becomes overgrown with weed and risk becoming a haven for miscreants, but at what expense to our Commonwealth and to whose private pocket enrichment?
An outsider would think the airport had ready cargo to be ferried out immediately on the approved test date announcement, the so called “Knowledge Zone” to be designated a Free Trade Zone has gotten an initial negative response from the denial of that free trade zone status to ABUAD as recently communicated by baba Afe Babalola SAN himself. A clear pathway to making the cargo airport a success is what I honestly expect these praise singers to be chanting with their erstwhile renowned veracious platforms and nothing but the truth.
