The Ekiti State Government has warned individuals and organisations against pasting posters on the flyover currently under construction in Ado-Ekiti, asserting that the act is an offence.
Mr. Sola Adebayo, the commissioner for works, issued the warning over the weekend, noting that the government would not tolerate the act of defacing the Okeyinmi–Ejigbo Phase II Flyover Project.
Adebayo explained that placing posters on public infrastructure, especially a major project like the flyover, was unacceptable and could damage the structure as well as reduce its aesthetic value
He warned that anyone caught pasting posters or engaging in acts capable of defacing the facility would face appropriate sanctions from the state government.
The commissioner urged individuals, corporate bodies and political groups to desist from the practice, while urging residents of the state to support government efforts to protect public infrastructure across Ekiti.
Mr. Sola Adebayo also appealed to road users to comply with the traffic diversion introduced around the construction site, stressing that the diversion was made to ensure safety and smooth movement of vehicles.
In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Engr. Olukayode Ibijola, reiterated that defacing the flyover with posters is strictly prohibited, adding that the project was designed to ease traffic and enhance the beauty of the state capital.
