APC Chieftain found dead in hotel elevator shaft after party convention. Initial reports claimed Kano’s assistant organizing secretary, Abdulsalami Ginsau was stuck in a lift. But new reports have confirmed that he fell into the pit of the elevator shaft at Chida Hotel, Utako Abuja.
Ginsau was tasked with accommodation and welfare for Kano delegates until he went missing for hours only to be found at a mortuary.
Apparently, around 6:30am he walked into the weakened elevator due to the volume of traffic and nonchalant attitude of guests; as he stepped in, the floor caved and he plunged to his death from the 4th floor.
CCTV footage caught two persons loitering around when he fell, yet failed to raise alarm, which could have saved Ginsau. Unfortunately, his body was recovered later.
A hotel Source told LEADERSHIP that the APC delegates failed to conduct themselves and overran the hotel, flouting all rules and threatening hotel staffs who opposed them.
They booked 150 rooms but brought over 2,000 people; stretched the elevator by entering in 12-14 at once, disregarding the 8 persons entry capacity. This stress weakened the floor, cables and resulted to their colleagues death.
Police investigations underway.
