Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has explained why his political bloc accepted a reduced share in its agreement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking to supporters in Kano over the weekend, Kwankwaso said members of the former New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) who recently joined the ADC were initially offered 80 percent of positions within the party structure. However, the group chose to accept 60 percent, leaving 40 percent for existing ADC members.
He said the decision was intended to promote inclusiveness and create room for broader participation within the party.
Kwankwaso noted that the arrangement follows a pattern established during previous political alignments, including when his group moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He added that members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement currently hold key leadership positions across all 44 local government areas in Kano State. However, after concerns from other stakeholders, the group ceded 10 of those positions.
Kwankwaso urged supporters to remain patient and avoid undue pressure in the distribution of roles, cautioning against insisting on individuals who may not meet the necessary requirements.
