Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti have endorsed Hon. Steve Olusola Fatoba as the consensus candidate for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1 ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced after an expanded caucus meeting in Ado-Ekiti, attended by ward chairmen from the thirteen political ward of Ado-Ekiti, party elders, Present Councillors from all wards in Ado-Ekiti, Women leaders, and youth coordinators across the constituency. According to participants, the decision was taken to avoid internal friction, reduce campaign costs, and present a united front at the polls.
Stakeholders backing the move cited Fatoba’s legislative contributions, constituency outreach, and record of attracting federal interventions to Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun, and other LGAs in the constituency. One party chieftain described the consensus as “a pragmatic step to protect the party’s interest and reward performance.”
Ado-Ekiti Party leaders clarified that the endorsement is an internal party arrangement and will be processed through the APC’s formal nomination and INEC’s electoral timetable. With the nod from Ado-Ekiti leaders, Fatoba gains a major advantage as the constituency begins to align for 2027.
Two weeks ago, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irepodun/Ifelodun LG had endorsed Fatoba for another term, citing his facilitation of constituency projects and consistent engagement with communities. That move has now been matched in Ado-Ekiti LG, where APC leaders today adopted him as their consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
With the two LGAs that make up Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1 — Ado-Ekiti and Irepodun/Ifelodun — now publicly backing his return, party insiders say Fatoba has effectively consolidated the constituency’s leadership structure behind his re-election bid.
The endorsement meeting drew notable party figures, including SSG to the Ekiti State Government, Prof Adubiro, former Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu; Chief Remi Oguntuase; Mr. Mike Akinleye; Chief Bosun Osaloni; Prince Bolu Adesanmi; and Mr. Sunday Ibitoye, Deputy Speaker, Mrs Bolaji Olagbaju, Mrs Tosin Ajisafe Aluko, PA Adigun
