Lesson to learn is that any migratory Politician will always lose followers and respect, moving from one Party to another in search of fortunes and opportunities.
Engr Segun Left PDP for APC in 2014 with all his Political Generals, Colonels and Corporals. On his return journey to PDP, he lost his Generals to APC. Those who purportedly signed to defect with him were his Political corporals and Colonels. ( I used the word purported because some of the signatures on the letter of defection written to the Chairman of Ekiti PDP Caretaker Committee were fake. For instance, three of the five names that purportedly signed to defect from APC to PDP from Efon Local Government have issued disclaimer and rejoinder to the effect that there names were fraudulently included and signatures forged in the list of those who are decamping with Chief Segun Oni, even though the three, originally came from the PDP but refused to defect back. The disclaimer of Hon. Banjo Filani from Efon, addressed to the APC State Chairman, which i was copied, was still trending on social media, thereby questioned the integrity of the said list of decampees).
The Political Generals that came with Chief Segun Oni to APC that he lost to APC includes but not limited to.
1.Hon. Kayode Babade
2.Rt.Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun.
3.Dr. Femi Thomas.
4.Hon. Mrs Bunmi Oriniowo.
5.Chief. Ben. Oguntuase.
- Chief Lanre Ogunjobi.
7.Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre.
8.Hon Femi Adeleye.
9.Engr. Aanun Oni
- Hon. Bunmi Ogunleye.
All the above names need no introduction because these names are Political brand in Ekiti State.
If Chief Segun Oni has not been doing Political merry-go-round, he wouldn’t have shedded so much weight and lost these Political heavyweight!
However, I read through the entire defection list and I discovered APC actually lost only one Person, Hon Seyi Shittu, who was originally APC and of Progressive extraction! others on the defection list were not original members of the Progressive Party but defected to APC from the PDP. They were fringe members of APC while in APC ; they were actually one leg in, one leg out.! Those core members, who originated from the Progressives that Chief Segun Oni met in APC but associated with his Political aspiration while in APC, did the honourable by staying back in their Party. The list includes but not limited to.
1.Chief Thony Adeniyi
2.Hon Oyetunde Ojo
3.Rt. Hon Gbenga Odebunmi.
4.Hon. Kehinde Boluwade
- Chief Biodun Akin Fasae.
6.Rt. Hon. Adewale Omirin
7..Chief Fola Afolalu.
8.Hon. Taiwo David
9.Hon. Ajibade Sunday Owolabi
- Hon Gbenga Ogunleye.
- Surv. Adewumi Adedara.
- And many others too numerous to mention because of space.
I am too sure they passed the test of Loyalty and integrity with their decision to remain and stick to the ideals of Progressive Politics they have committed themselves. Their Pride of Place in APC is assured!
Let it be known that Ekiti APC lost one to gain two with the defection of Chief Segun Oni from APC to PDP in Ifaki. After the exit of Chief Segun Oni, APC had Chief Tunde Aladegbami, the immediate Past Chairman of Ido Osi Local Government Council, who defected from PDP to APC in Ifaki ward 1 and Hon Lanre Fayemi, the First Minority Leader of Ekiti State House of Assembly, who defected from PDP to APC in Ifaki Ward 2. And the music is still playing on!
Needless to remind readers about my previous articles where I predicted that should Chief Segun Oni defect to PDP, he would have a serious battle to fight with the Grandmaster of Ekiti PDP, Chief Ayodele Fayose. Chief Fayose’s rejection of Chief Segun Oni’s planned defection (as contained in the Daily independent of Tuesday May 26, 2020, titled “Fayose Moves Against Oni’s Planned Return to PDP” has lent credence to my Postulations and Predictions. All that I predicted on Ekiti PDP have come to pass!
I wish to give further prediction! Membership of a Political Party is a constitutional matter. You don’t become a member of a Political Party by mere pronouncement or writing of letters. You must register in a ward to guarantee you membership. I am predicting that it will be easier for the camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for Chief Segun Oni to get registered at Ifaki Ward 2. Mark my words!
