The Aroso market mile 2 has lamented over the crazy Bills that Ikeja Electric PLC distributed to the market setback it caused them since the month of June 2019.
The Baba Oja for Aroso market mile2 and Baba oja general Amuwo odofin LGA Alhaji Abass Bolarin Yusuf disclosed this Thursday during the marketers peaceful protest at the Ikeja Electric plc office,Alausa secretariat Ikeja,that the Lagos state Government should come to their aids in the market by giving them Prepaid Meters individually in the market for the suffering has chased a lot of traders away from the market.
Baba oja expressed further that a lot of letters have been sent to the Power distribution Office on the market problems of interruption of Light and crazy bills to Undertaken office in mile2 and Okota even Ikeja office before the Human right initiative organisation supported the marketers in the fight to stop crazy bills but all to no avail,resulted to this peaceful protest for public to be aware, when the Electric office never stop dribbling the marketers on this course.
He stated further that the marketers had once come to Ikeja office at Alausa in 2009 and there was no solution attached.
He appealed to Governor sanwoolu Babajide to help intervene on the matter with distribution of prepaid meters now that they have protested peacefully and the Officials of Ikeja Electric PLC of the cooperative communications have referred them to mile 2 again today that immediately they saw the arrival of the protesters,the office called their office to attend to them when the marketers came and he expressed displeasure when the protesters requested for the phone number of whom to call if they see any failure in the power office they referred them.
The Vice Iyaloja,Iyaafin Odun Ayo Borisade spoke at the protest ground that the market is under construction since the year 2017 to the extent that no marketers have sales or profit when the Traders are moving out of the market,both the Rice sellers and Pure water sellers and more ever since the distribution of the cracy bills that began getting in market from the figures of 50,000 to 100,000,also from 100,000 to 150,000,and 150,000 to 250,000, and to 550,000 bills till date at the Amuwo odofin retail market AKA Aroso market .she highlighted.While she exclaimed that they have no Cold room in the market to warrant the Estimated bills.
She revealed how they once come to Ikeja office on this matter in year 2009.
