I admire serious people. I respect those who do not pay lip service to the cause they believe in.
I have followed the activities of those who support Yahaya Bello’s re~election and those who oppose it. Both camps exercising their constitutional rights.
What I find very amusing in any election is the army.of those whose only plan and strategy to get a candidate re~elected or denied re~election is to either abuse the candidate they are opposed to or abuse, guilt trip and emotionally attempt to blackmail the supporters of the candidates they oppose. Engaging in all talks but bankrupt in action.
Most of those who want Bello re~elected are on ground campaigning and promoting him.
Most of those who do not want Bello are not on ground. They are on social media insulting those who are doing. Virtually none has indicated the candidate of their choice.
Some have even employed emotional blackmail, stating that any Buhari supporter who supports Bello is fake. How come Buhari is allowed to support a gubernatorial candidate on his party platform, but members of same party are designated sellout for doing same? Some of you should simply take a leave from politicking or running political commentary and go in search of Utopia.
Assuming I was vested in the political affairs of Kogi and was opposed to Bello, there is no way on God’s green earth I will line behind people without a plan. Abusing a candidate or their supporters is neither a plan nor strategy. How will a full grown adult invest time and energy in such futile efforts?
In any election, the only sensible and rational way to oppose another candidate is to line behind another candidate and do the actual work that will get the candidate enough votes.
The universe rewards and recognizes efforts without prejudice. If people go into the field to campaign for Bello, they will see the reward at the polls. If you stay back on social media giving out rhetorical sound bites, you will also get the reward of being hailed as intellectual and objective. Every reward according to its efforts.
