Following the riot act read by the Federal Government to hostility towards Nigerians in Ghana, the Ghanaian authorities has extended the olive branch, promising commitment to warm relations with Nigeria. Karma Agagowei, Councilor representing Ward 6 of Sagbama Council Area of Bayelsa State, has died from gunshots he sustained while returning from a party congress in Yenagoa. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Councillor was attacked by gunmen along Opolo, while returning from a Peoples Democratic Party Ward Congress on Saturday night. Agagowei was taken to two different hospitals: Gloryland Hospital and Federal Medical Centre, Yenogoa, but was allegedly denied treatment for lack of a police report. He died shortly afterwards. A former Governor of Rivers State, Celestine Omehia, was manhandled by supporters of his party, Peoples Democratic Party, clashed in a free for all in his residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. According to a video seen by The Eagle Online, some of the the party members were seen pushing out others from the house in the heat of the fracas. Former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, said on Sunday evening that he had not endorsed the 2022 governorship ambition of an ex-governor, Chief Segun Oni. Fayose had on Saturday, during a Peoples Democratic Party congress, officially received Oni, who had earlier left the party for All Progressives Congress before returning recently. The Economic Community of West African States has said the Malian military junta has agreed to a 12-month transition programme. The military junta, which had insisted on a three-year programme, settled for the formation of a civilian transitional government to run the affairs of the country for the next 12 months, following pressure from the ECOWAS leaders. Sesame seeds has been ranked as the most traded agricultural products in Nigeria during the first quarter of 2020. This is according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics under the foreign trade statistics section. The produce contributed N49.1bn to Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings. Good fermented cocoa beans contributed N35.2bn and superior quality cocoa beans contributed N16.8bn to Nigeria’s exports. Sesame seeds worth N9.8bn, N9.5 bn and N9.3bn were exported to Japan, Turkey and China respectively.
