The house of representatives has rejected castration of persons convicted of rape. At Thursday’s plenary session, the lawmakers voted against castration as punishment for rapists as suggested by James Faleke from Lagos state. Father of the Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Value Orientation, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, has passed on. 80-year-old Chief Bamidele Isola Olumilua, whose death has just been confirmed, was the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Nigeria from January 1992 to November 1993 during the Nigerian Third Republic. He was elected on the Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform, but left office when the military regime of general Sani Abacha took power.
