The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, on Monday arraigned the convener of RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore and four others before a magistrate court. The defendants were on 1st January 2021 arrested by the Special weapons tactical team in Abuja while protesting to mark the New Year celebration. Trek Africa Newspaper reports that There are indications that the Nigerian Police Council may nominate a new Inspector-General of Police by February. It is unclear if the current Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, will get a tenure extension but unconfirmed sources said his successor may be announced.
