The Federal Government at the weekend warned the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC against embarking on unauthorised access to the National Control Centre and shutting down the grid during its planned industrial action. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) says the country’s total annual upstream capital expenditure has decreased from $27 billion in 2014 to less than $six billion in 2022. The Chief Executive of NUPRC, Mr Gbenga Komolafe, revealed this on the sidelines of the World Petroleum Congress (WPC), held on Sunday in Calgary, Canada. Komolafe, represented by the Executive Commissioner, Mr Kelechi Ofoegbu, represented a 74 percent decrease in its capital expenditure (CAPEX). President Bola Tinubu has been urged to probe the grim allegations that over US$15 billion of oil revenue and N200 billion budgeted to repair the refineries are missing between 2020 and 2021. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) made the call on Sunday, on the heels of a report by by the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI). The 44-year-old of Nigerian and Swiss-German descent is expected to take over from Edward Enninful, the editor-in-chief.
