Popular Jamaican dancer ‘Bumpa’ died during a dangerous dance move when a dancer jumped on her and broke her neck. Roxy aka Bumpa lost her life last night during a dancehall routine at a local Jamaican dance party. Bumpa and her Gladiator Dance colleague Momo decided to take on an impromptu dance challenge vying for the winnings of JA$3500 or US $251.
The two were sure they’d snatch the prize by executing a daring yet routine choreography that required Bumpa to ‘stand on her head top’ (i.e. rotate her body 180° with the feet above the head). Once Bumpa got into position, Momo was to somehow jump over her colleague but things took a turn for the worst when she landed on top of Bumpa instead. This caused the famed dancer to break her neck and sent her crashing to the floor.
Bumpa leaves behind two sons Danj and Teddy, and while there are many that are speculating perhaps that she was careless with her lifestyle choices, others are coming to her defense.
