The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that married female corps members will no longer be required to change their maiden name to that of their spouse in order to seek redeployment. This new directive was outlined in a circular issued by the NYSC’s Director of Corps Mobilisation, Abubakar Mohammed, to state and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) coordinators.
The circular, dated November 25, 2024, titled “Review of criteria for concessional deployment/relocation for married female corps members,” confirmed that the management had approved a review of the criteria for concessional deployment and relocation requests.
The circular emphasized that from now on, changing a maiden name will no longer be a condition for married female corps members to be considered for redeployment. All other requirements for the redeployment process remain unchanged.
State and FCT coordinators have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to this updated policy, and area office directors are tasked with monitoring the implementation of the directive.
