Information reaching us has it that Funke Akindele and her husband, AbdulRasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz have pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of hosting a gathering of 20 persons and over, contrary to the social distancing directives of the Lagos state government.

Attached is the Samuel Ilori Magistrates Court, Ogba charge sheet for the case – State Attorney General vs Funke Akindele and hubby, Abdul Rasheed-Bello.
Funke Akindele and hubby were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Aje Afuwa on a count charge pursuant to Regulation 8(1)(a) & (b) and 17(1)(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020.
According to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo the offence is punishable under under Section 58 Public Health Law Cap P16 Vol.9 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Following the suspects conviction, the Attorney General asked that the court convict the couple’s accordingly.
Consequently, the Magistrate stand down the trial for thirty minutes to pronounce the sentence on the couple.
The current break in the proceedings has lasted more than the planned 30 minutes.
There is currently a gathering of residents and the media around the court premises.
