The Youths, especially in Ekiti State, have been urged to always
channel their grievances to the government and appropriate authorities
in a peaceful and lawful manner.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Mojisola
Yaya-Kolade gave the advice in Ado-Ekiti at the maiden Ekiti Youth and
Women Policy Dialogue and Accountability Forum.
She said Ekiti State under the leadership of Dr. Kayode Fayemi frowns
at rape, child abuse, child trafficking and any act of violence
against women.
Yaya-Kolade appreciated Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his initiative on gender
equality that gave rise to the active participation of women in Ekiti
government.
The Commissioner highlighted some of the achievements of the Ministry
to include free family planning, sealing off of unauthorized health
facilities, training of traditional birth attendants, adolescent
education across all the 16 local government areas, girls sex
education and lots more.
She urged the parents, especially mothers to desist from the practice
of genital mutilations and also enjoined women to always check their
breast for early detection of any ailment and timely treatment.
There were goodwill messages from her counterparts from the Ministries
of Youth and Sports Development, Agriculture and Rural Development,
Budget and Economic Planning and also from the Ekiti State House of
Assembly.
