A young couple from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who were planning to get married next year, died in separate car accidents just minutes apart. Alexus Lee, 25, was the first to be involved in the fatal accident.
Early on the morning of May 16, 2025, she lost control of her vehicle on a road near Zachary and crashed. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Upon hearing the devastating news, her fiancé, John “JR” Collins, 35, rushed to the accident location but was involved in a fatal crash himself just minutes later.
Driving on the same road near Clinton, John lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, resulting in his immediate death. The Louisiana State Police confirmed that neither Alexus nor John was wearing a seatbelt at the time of their respective accidents. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding both crashes.
The couple had recently bought a home together and were preparing for their wedding, scheduled for February 2026. They leave behind their 4-year-old son, Gabriel. Family members have vowed to raise him with love and support despite the heartbreaking loss.
