
All markers in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and Lagos and Ogun States, where the Federal Government had declared a lockdown over the Coronavirus Disease, can now open daily between 10am and 2pm.
This was announced on Wednesday during a news briefing by the National Co-ordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani.
At the briefing attended by members of the task force, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Sani said: “For markets, only shops and stalls selling food and groceries shall be allowed to open to customers between the hours of 10am and 2pm.”
He said for supermarkets and food stores, they are to open between 10am and 4pm.
Giving the rules for opening, Sani said: “On arrival, all staff must be screened for a high temperature and all those found to have a high body temperature above 38, will be denied entry and advised to seek immediate medical attention.
“All deliveries for supplies and products for these supermarkets must be made between the hours of 5am and 9am.”
Other additional rules to be observed include that at any point in time, the total number of customers inside each store must not exceed a third of the store’s total capacity; all shelves, aisles and stores must be throughly cleaned and disinfected after closure; and by 6pm latest, staff are conveyed to their homes.
