DG Signage charges officers on transparency and accountability
The Director General of Ekiti State Signage and Advertisements Agency,
Mr. Sunkanmi Onipede charged the Operation Officers of the Agency to
live above board by making transparency and accountability their watch
word while discharging their duties.
Mr. Onipede made the call at a meeting with the Operation Officers of
the Agency in Ado-Ekiti.
According to him, business owners that the Agency had given their bill
since January this year were expected to have paid up by now.
He said that Ekiti State Government was determined to improve the
Internally Generated Revenue to enable it embark on various
developmental projects that will make life more comfortable for the
people.
The Director who cautioned Agency’s Operation Officers against
involving in any sharp practices restated that taxes should be paid
directly to the account of the State Government stressing that nobody
was expected to collect money by hand.
Speaking on the restructuring of the Agency, Mr. Onipede disclosed
that the services of the Consultants formerly handling the affairs of
the Agency had been disengaged and the Agency has put in place a more
efficient and effective strategy to deliver on its targets.
The Agency boss therefore appealed to all business owners in Ekiti
State to support the present administration by paying their
registration fees and other dues regularly as the Operation Officers
would be going out to collect these.
Responding, Mr. Akadri Abiola, Fakiyesi Olawale, Awe Kehinde and Adubu
Isreal among other Operation Officers who spoke at the meeting
commended the fresh initiative and pledged to live up to expectation.
They however enjoined the management of the Agency to give priority to
their welfare and make provision for necessary equipment to enable
them perform maximally.
