Dr. Yaya-Kolade Commends Ekiti mothers over turn out for polio vaccination.
Ekiti state Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Mojisola
Yaya-Kolade has expressed satisfaction over the turn out of the
mothers with their children for the immunization against poliomyelitis
in Ekiti state.
Dr. Yaya-Kolade declared this satisfaction in Oye, Isan and
Ilupeju-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area where she monitored the
vaccination of children age 0 – 5 years in Ekiti as a proactive
measure to guide against the outbreak of poliomyelitis in Ekiti state
which has been reported in Ogun and Lagos states.
She described the response of mothers and health workers as very
impressive and satisfying considering the turnout of babies for the
polio vaccination.
Yaya-Kolade however implored mothers who have not made their children
available for the vaccination to desist from hiding their children
from health workers. “Anytime immunization officers approach you as a
mother, please welcome them, support them and bring out your children
to them to be vaccinated. It is free and safe for them”, she said.
Some mothers who had had their babies vaccinated, Mrs. Zainab Rufai
and Mrs. Aina Olajide applauded Ekiti state government over its
pro-active step to combat and guard against outbreak of polio virus in
Ekiti, also urged Governor kayode Fayemi to be relentless in his
efforts to ensure that polio never show its face in the state.
In another development, the commissioner has paid an unscheduled visit
to a center in Itaji-Ekitii where a group of corps members was giving
free health care services to the rural dwellers.
Dr. Yaya Kolade, who commended the initiative of the group, charged
other groups to emulate the kind gesture to humanity organized by the
Nigeria Christian Corps members urged the corps members to always get
the Ministry of Health appropriately involved in such programmes.
