EKHA holds first Executive Session in four years
Ekiti State House of Assembly has held an Executive Session, the very
first in four years.
The Session, which did not only assisted Members of the Assembly to
be kept well informed about bills that have been presented to the
House by the State Government, also elucidated the impact of the House
on the socio-economic advancement of the State.
A team from the State Ministry Of Justice and led by the
Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda was
invited by the Assembly to provide additional information on the four
executive bills forwarded to the House and currently being considered
by the Assembly.
The four bills include Ekiti State Development & Investment Bill
(2019), Ekiti State College of Agriculture & Technology, Isan-Ekiti
(2019), Ekiti State Property Protection – Anti-Land Grabbing (2019),
and Administration of Civil Justice (2019).
Key officials who addressed the house on the Bills included the SA to
the Governor on Investment, Trade and Innovation, Mr. Akintunde
Oyebode, the Technical Adviser on Agriculture Transformation, Engr.
Ilesanmi, the Director of Legal Drafting in the Ministry Of Justice,
Mr. A.B. Akpan, and the Director, Civil Litigation in the Justice
Ministry, Mr. Bamise.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda
spoke on the Administrative Justice Bill which he described as unique.
“The enactment of this bill will make Ekiti State the first state in
Nigeria to have a bill of this nature as the bill also seeks to
achieve a timely and effective resolution of all civil disputes in the
State.”
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeniran Alagbada, who
noted that the Executive Session was the first of its kind in the past
four years, expressed his satisfaction at the presentation of the
Bills by the team.
Alagbada assured that the Bills will be given accelerated passage as
no time will be wasted on their passage.
