There is this vacuous lie that is being aggressively pushed by those who want the unjust attempt to cheat Ekiti of the right to nominate another person to occupy the position of National Deputy Chairman of APC.
There is this coward of an anonymous called Ayekooto Akindele, a character being used by those who see themselves as the sole owners of APC to spread this fallacy to the effect that the reason the position of National Deputy Chairman, South was zoned to Èkìtì was because Èkìtì had no governor at that time and that the position was given to Èkìtì to serve as a rallying point for APC members. And that now that Oyo has no Governor again, the position is zoned to Oyo to serve as a rallying point.
This is a stupid conjecture. Before APC was formed, Chief Adeniyi Adebayo was Vice Chair, SW of ACN and after APC came to being and interim NWC was formed, he was to become NDC but because of the defection of Chief Ṣẹgun Òní to APC from PDP where he was forced to resign after he was outsmarted as Vice Chairman, SW of the PDP, he was made National Deputy Chairman, South of APC.
As at the time Ṣẹgun Òní became Deputy Chairman, Dr Kayode Fayemi was still the governor of Èkìtì.
Chief Òní resigned his position as Deputy Chairman in 2018 to contest for Èkìtì Governorship position under APC. He was replaced by Otunba Níyì Adebayo. It was therefore a big lie to say Èkìtì was given the position because it had no governor.
The logical question to ask is: if party position is used to reinforce States without Governors, why did Oshiomole replace Chief Oyegun even when APC was practically non-existent in Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River? Is it not logical that Oshiomole should quit for someone from Cross River to replace him so as to energise our party in Cross River?
How can a state that has a minister, two senators and house of representatives members in addition to having a national working member be said to have no rallying point? What rallying point will a man who is at the centre of electoral defeat in his state serve?
Is it not strange that those who sponsored insurrection against Dr Kayode Fayemi some years ago and wanted the party leadership of Èkìtì taken away from him because he lost 2014 election are now the same hypocrites wanting to handover the biggest party position to the only man who lost his state when we’re the incumbent at both state and federal?
Is it not strange that a man who not only lost the state governorship position to PDP but got specifically rejected from going to the Senate by his people will now serve as the rallying point of the state to victory?
As at now, most tendencies within Oyo have rejected him, so, who is he rallying? Those who want him there are not interested in a rallying point, they want those who could manipulate the process to their advantage in future.
It is the same reason they took National Secretary position from Yobe to Borno where they assume they have sympathisers. Or does Borno that has a Governor also need a rallying point? Why don’t we take the National Publicity Secretary to Benue so as to have a rallying point since we practically lost everything in Benue? Or don’t we need a rallying point in Benue?
Let the truth be told, injustice will always bring about rancour. Èkìtì of my forefathers will NEVER accept that Èkìtì will have no member in NWC while Oyo will have two and it is the Èkìtì’s one slot that will be given to Oyo to make two.
If those in Lagos who are promoting this, believe so much in the talent of their nominee, let them cede the position of National Legal Adviser to Oyo.
For me, if Lagos can replace Lagos as Nationl Legal Adviser, Edo can replace Edo as National Chairman, Ondo can replace Ondo as National Vice Chairman, Kwara can replace Kwara as National Publicity Secretary etc, Èkìtì must replace Èkìtì for the position of National Deputy Chair, South.
As to our coward Èkìtì compatriots who are giving tacit support to this injustice because they would rather Èkìtì is short changed for their emperor to have his way, ule l’ọ̀tìtà jo ko i dùdí.
