EKITI State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum has urged residents to obey the lockdown order, to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
Noting that no cure has been found for the strange disease, the elders called for prayers to God for an end to the pandemic.
The elders said in a statement by its Chairman, Chief George Akosile, and Secretary, Chief Abiodun Ajayi that it is better to abide by the preventive measures outlined by the state government.
They added: “The lockdown order is not comfortable. If, however, such is the panacea to prevent the spread of the virulent disease, we enjoin our brothers and sisters to endure for a while, to prevent the spread and hasten the eradication of the disease in Ekiti State.”
The forum lauded the efforts of Governor Kayode Fayemi and his team on the containment of the spread, saying the lockdown, social distancing and other preventive measures have produced positive results.
The group hailed the governor for distributing palliative items, including foodstuff and money that have cushioned the effects of Covid-19.
