
Current and Backlog payment of State & LG Pensioners’ gratuities ongoing, whilst Cheques for Cars & Housing Loans are handed to Beneficiaries
Governor Kayode Fayemi, through the Pillar One (Governance) of his administration agenda, which addresses the welfare or civil servants and retirees in Ekiti State, has taken a step further in delivering the dividends of Democracy to the people as he disburses in the excess sum of N800million as payment of State and Local Government Pensioners’ gratuities and Cheques for Cars and Housing Loans for Civil Servants.
Speaking during the Disbursement Ceremony, the Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi said that Governor Kayode Fayemi is ‘walking his talk’ on his Governance Agenda, especially in the area of the welfare of workers and pensioners.
“When Governor Kayode Fayemi came on board in October 2018, he promised to make the people of Ekiti smile and I’m happy we are smiling today because immediately he became governor, he approved the disbursement of N200million loan to teachers in the state and subsequently, some other welfare packages have been sent to workers across board including the approval of 2018/2019 promotion programme for civil servants. He also approved recruitment for teachers through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and other areas of the Civil Service system,” he said.
The Head of Service also acknowledged that as part of the activities outlined to mark the Governor’s one year in office, the payment of loans and gratuities to beneficiaries and pensioners in the excess of N800million has been approved and paid.
“Today, we are giving out a sum of N103.770, 000.00 car loans to civil servants. N85, 000,000.00 is paid as land and housing loans; N40, 000,000.00 is paid to Local Government workers as Cars and Housing loans; N103.480, 000.00 as car loans to Secondary School teachers; N52.520, 000.00 as Housing loans to Secondary School teachers; N100million Gratuities to State Pensioners and N100million Gratuities to Local Government Pensioners.
“This is indeed a cause for happiness in the Civil Service system of the state. The government vowed to put smiles on the faces of the people and that is being achieved today,” he said.
Gracing the occasion are top government functionaries namely; the Governor, ably represented his Deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi; Chief of Staff, Mr. Aboidun Omoleye; Chairman, Local Government Service Commission (accompanied by his Commissioners); Permanent Secretaries; amongst others.
