
The Government of Ekiti State has inaugurated the Network for Ekiti
Creative Artists (NECA) as part of the efforts of the Dr. Kayode
Fayemi-led administration at rejuvenating the Arts and cultural
heritage of Ekiti people.
Performing the inauguration in his office in Ado-Ekiti, the Director
General, Council for Arts and Culture, Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre,
informed that the step was to further strengthen the Arts and Cultural
Sector by creating a platform for a mutual interface between the Ekiti
indigenous creative entrepreneurs in the diaspora and those at home.
Ojo Lanre, who noted that the present administration has created an
enabling environment and provided the atmosphere for artists and arts
to thrive in Ekiti State, charged members to come up with ideas that
would attract opportunities for arts practitioners and make its
subscribers have value for their membership.
Emphasizing the present administration’s determination to brand the
rich culture of Ekiti for globalization, the Director General urged
members to utilize the inauguration of NECA to enhance the creative
ingenuity of Ekiti Arts and Culture.
In his response, the interim President of the body, Mr. Caleb Osasona,
promised to deploy his wealth of experience towards the enhancement of
the Arts and Culture Industry of Ekiti State in line with the vision
of the present administration.
The Network for Ekiti State Creative Artists has members drawn from
painters, artists, sculptors, poets, writers, arts educators, fashion
designers, actors, theatre practitioners, graphic artists, drummers,
among others.
