EKITI GALATICOS LAMENTS POOR STATE OF TRAINING INFRASTRUCTURES. By Association of Campus Journalists, EKSU
Following unsuccessful campaign
of the Ekiti State University Football Team “The Galaticos” in the 2019 Nigerian University league games
EKSU football team, has cried out over the state of infrastructure being used, that has continue to impede its performances in both regional and national competitions
Team captain,Rasheed Opeyemi, who is best known as Tiote expressed dissapoinment at ignorance being shown by neccessary authorities responssible for providing university athletes, adequate infrastructures needed to complement their efforts from training to tournaments
He explain that the Galaticos training field currently characterized by over grown grasses, makes it unfit for their level of training
Tiote, however, attribute general state of training facilities in EKSU, as one of the major factors that drowns the
perfomance of EKSU athletes while contending against other athletes from institutions with better infrastructures
Also, team players who spoke to ACJ, shared similar pain, noted that their loss to “The Tigers” of FUTA, was a consequence of prepardness,
“FUTA has much better infrastructures and standard pitch where they train”
Despite odds being against the Galaticos in the Nigeria University league, from fatigue as result of late departure from Ekiti to Lagos, to ill financial support causing players to compete in empty stomachs, it is no news that a team with poor training facilties will perform woeful against a team with top notch infrastructure
While Bet9ja League continues on the 23rd of July “The Galaticos” are yet to get a suitable place to train.
