Ekiti Governance Update: Ministry of Women affairs & Social Development
This morning, the Ministry of Women affairs & Social Development in Ekiti State, in collaboration with the Wife of Governor will be disbursing funds and products to support families of multiple birth babies.
Ekiti State has a high incidence of multiple births which has been attributed to the fertility component of the species of yam consumed in the area.
Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi had initiated this support Scheme in the first term of the Fayemi administration but it was cancelled by the Fayose administration.
The scheme is now institutionalized as a bonafide programme of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. Providing social safety nets for the vulnerable in the society is a key component of the Dr Kayode Fayemi Administration’s policies.
