Ekiti State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi, has said that
Ekiti State Civil Service will not shirk in her responsibilities
towards raising a crop of competent, efficient and effective officers
whose desire would be to implement government policies and make
service delivery their ultimate goal.
He made this known while declaring open a week-long
Induction/Orientation Course for newly appointed Administrative
Officers, Accountants, Auditors, and Registrars of Cooperatives and
Inspector of taxes at the Staff Development Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
Ajayi, who noted that the course is very significant towards exposing
the newly appointed officers to the intricacies of government
business, charged them to make the best use of the induction meant to
equip them with necessary skills and knowledge that would prepare them
for the task ahead.
He commended the State government under the leadership of Dr. Kayode
Fayemi for extending the course to a week rather than two days, to
widen its scope, accommodate new emerging issues as well as study
tours for the new officers.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Capacity Development and Reforms,
Mr. Oluwadare Ajayi, advised the participants to work in support of
the ideals of the Public Service and shun unethical practices.
The Owa Ooye of Okemesi, Oba Michael Adedeji Gbadebo, while addressing
the officers during a tour to his palace, urged them not to betray the
confidence reposed in them, which led to their appointment and also
lauded the state government for providing jobs for the young people.
Some of the participants, Tope Adigun, Bolanle Ogundipe, Anthony
Olatoye and Ayodele Alabi, showered encomiums on the State government,
the Civil Service Commission as well as Office of Capacity Development
and Reforms for the rare privilege.
They expressed their readiness to contribute their quota with vigour
to the development of the Civil Service, noting that their scope has
been widened with the week-long induction and study tour.
The participants were also given series of lectures, taken round
notable places across the state and presented with certificates of
participation.
