Ekiti HOS inaugurates Public Service Rules Review Committee
Ekiti State Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi has inaugurated the
Committees constituted to review the three major Public Service Rule
books that guide the conduct of workers towards enhancing efficiency
in the Civil Service.
Inaugurating the Committees in his office, the Head of Service noted
that there was the need to review some sections of the Rule books that
have become outdated and old-fashioned thereby falling short of global
best practices.
The three Committees, Financial Administration, Civil Service
Commission Regulations and Public Service Rules have as Chairmen, Mr.
M.O Fabamise, who is the current Permanent Secretary in the SUBEB; Mr.
Olusesan Alabi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Employment and
Productivity; and Mr. James Owolabi, the Permanent Secretary, Pension
Commission respectively.
The Head of Service, who disclosed that it was the first time the
three books will be reviewed at the same time, charged members of the
committees to justify the confidence reposed in them, haven been
carefully selected.
Mr. Ajayi noted that the present administration under the leadership
of Dr. Kayode Fayemi has the review of the books on its priority list
as contained in the Civil Service Transformation Strategy (CSTS)
document which has in mind to ensure that all non-fashionable
portions of the rules were expunged to enhance good performance
amongst public servants.
The HOS allayed the fears of public servants who think the rules were
draconian and targeted at witch-hunting them, said the rules would
rather enhance efficient service delivery that would in turn,
necessitate promotions and rewards for diligence.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishments and Service
Matters, Mr. Bayo Opeyemi stated that the review was a fall-out of the
Retreat held at Iloko, Osun State where the extant and newly approved
policies of the current administration were discussed to make
effective service delivery in the Public Service achievable.
Other members of the Financial Administration Committee are Mrs.
Salami, Mr. Fasakin, Mr. Ipinmoroti, a representative of the Ministry
of Justice and Mr. Ogunlade, who would serve as the Secretary.
While the membership of the Civil Service Commission Regulations will
include Mr. Alesin, Mr. O.T. Oluwalana, a representative of the
Ministry of Justice and Mr. Oyinloye to serve as the Secretary, that
of the Public Service Rules Committee will include Mr. Tai Akomolafe,
Mr. Taiwo Ajobiewe, a representative of the Ministry of Justice and
Mrs. Yewande Adesua to be the Secretary
