
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Works Transportation, Hon. Adesola Adebayo has expressed the commitment of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to completing all ongoing developmental projects across
the State.
Hon Adebayo made the statement during an inspection tour of some projects in the state, saying the present administration gives top priority to projects that will have meaningful impact on the socio-economic status and wellbeing of the people.
Hon Adebayo narrated that the 13 streets roads that were repaired in Ado-Ekiti, the State Capital, the ongoing dualized New Iyin Road, Civic Centre at Fajuyi, Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, New Oja Market among others are evidence of Fayemi’s commitment to infrastructural development which is one of the five developmental pillars on which his government rest on.
He commended the contractors handling the New Iyin Road for working to specification noting that the road would be delivered within the twenty four months given by the government.
On the New Oja Oba Market that started during the immediate past administration, Hon. Adebayo said the structural defects identified have been corrected accordingly to meet the standard of a modern market.
He said that work is seriously going on now on the terrazzo flooring, electricity connection and fittings, car park, plumbing work that will ensure regular water supply, painting and other finishing touches that are necessary to get the Complex ready for commissioning soon.
The Commissioner for Works affirmed that Oja Oba Market was actually the brain work of Governor Fayemi during his first term in office which God has actually bestow upon him again the grace to complete and commission.
In a related development, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Roads and Infrastructures, Hon. Sunday Adunmo has noted that bad access roads and inaccessibility to other social infrastructural amenities such as portable water, electricity and good health care services have contributed to the prevalent poverty among the people. According to him, research has shown that fifty three percent [53%] of people in Nigeria live below poverty line due to lack of access to income generating ventures as many people engaging in farming could not go on large scale as a result of poor road network.
He said Governor Kayode Fayemi has made necessary arrangements and collaboration with reliable bodies and organizations including the World Bank to give holistic approach to poverty eradication and add value to the live of Ekiti people.
He said the government would open up new roads, link the inter-lands and extend nsocial amenities such as electricity, pipe borne water etc. to places to improve the living standard of the rural dwellers in the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Barr. Dele Agbede and other top government functionaries accompanied the Commissioner.
