Governor Kayode Fayemi has been lauded for his initiative and prompt
action to ensure Ekiti State key into the national program of Primary
Health Care Under One Roof.
The Chairman, Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency
(PHCDA), Chief Mrs. Monisola Oloro who was represented by the
Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Pharmacist Olabisi Arogundade gave
this commendation in Ado-Ekiti during the official takeover of files
of Primary Health Care staff by the Primary Health Development Agency
.
Chief (Mrs.) Oloro described the step as important and crucial to
making the National Policy on Primary Care come under one roof, adding
that the Agency is also acting in consonance with the vision of Dr.
Kayode Fayemi to ensuring that access to basic health care services is
well managed and better coordinated.
She assured the Local Government Service Commission that the interest
and welfare of the workers that had just been taken over by PHCDA
would be adequately protected as all necessary arrangements to that
effect have been put in place.
Earlier, the chairman of the Ekiti state Local Government Service
Commission, Mr. Adewumi Abejide charged the Agency to prioritize the
welfare of about 4000 PHC officers that have just been moved from the
Commission to PHCDA.
He said the arrangement became necessary because of the national
policy which stipulates that primary health workers must be under one
roof and which Ekiti State must key into.
The Chairman called for regular interactive sessions between the
Agency and the commission to speed up the implementation of the
policy.
He however applauded the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for
his vision to ensure that good health care services get to all and
sundry in Ekiti State.
