Ekiti SA on Security charges EkitiPeaceCorp State and LGs Commanders to stop crime in Ekiti
The Special adviser to Ekiti State Governor on Security, Rtd. General Ebenezer Ogundana has charged the State and Local Government Commanders of the Peace Corps to work in synergy with other Security Agencies to fight crime in the State.
Rtd. General Ogundana gave this charge at an interactive meeting with leaders of the security outfit in Ado-Ekiti urging that information gathered and transmitted by the Commanders must be timely, accurate and genuine to achieve success and better performance.
The Special Adviser who explained that the State Government was prepared to empower them to ensure effective and efficient performance told the Commanders not to undermine or disregard any security information they receive as any hint, no matter how insignificant it seems, could be of great assistance in the discharge of their onerous task.
He urged them also to associate themselves and synergize with relevant stakeholders such as the Police, Civil Defence, Army, Local Government Chairmen, Royal Fathers and even local Hunters to ensure maintain relative peace reign in the State.
Earlier the State Commandant of the Peace Corps, Honourable Dele Owoju had commended Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for restoring Peace Corps to the State, regular payment of salaries of members of Peace Corps and particularly the release of funds to purchase equipment that could enhance their jobs.
Honourable Owoju charged them to reciprocate the government’s gesture by working conscentiously to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The State Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Peace Corps, Mr. Adepoju Adekunle who responded on behalf of others highlighted some of the challenges confronting the Commanders in both State and local governments to include; lack of mobility for operations and non issuance appointment letters that will give them sense of belonging and official recognition as members of the State workforce among others.
He thanked Mr. Governor for reinstating them and implored the Senior Special Adviser Rtd.General Ogundana to continue to organise such workshops on regular basis for efficient and effective discharge of duties.
