The Chairman, State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Justice
Babajide Aladejana has charged the sixteen newly elected Local
Government Chairmen, to replicate what Governor Kayode Fayemi was
doing in the State in their respective local governments to stimulate
development at the grassroots.
Justice Aladejana gave the charge, during the presentation of
Certificates of Return to all the sixteen Local Governments
Chairmen-Elect at the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC)
office in Ado Ekiti.
The Chairman who described the Chairmen-Elect as the arrowheads of
government in their Local Governments urged them to reciprocate the
confidence the electorate reposed in them by voting massively for
them.
The Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Committee in Ekiti State, Mr. Ife
Iyaniwura commended the SIEC Chairman for the successful conduct of a
free, fair and credible election, stressing that the successful
election was as a result of the transparency of Governor Fayemi to all
contestants in the State.
The only female Chairman who is the Chairman-Elect, Ado Ekiti Local
Government, Mrs.’Motunde Fajuyi, on behalf of other Chairmen – Elect
thanked the Management of SIEC for peace that reigned during the
elections, promising to work to justify the confidence reposed in
them.
Mrs. Fajuyi equally appreciated the Governor for his passion for Ekiti
people and for standing by his words at all times, describing him as
‘Omoluabi’ of our time.
Present at the occasion were, the representative of the Right
Honourable Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker
RT. Hon. Akeem Jamiu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Biodun
Omoleye, Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Values Orientation,
Aare ‘Muyiwa Olumilua and other important dignitaries.
It would be recalled that elections to elect Chairmen and Councillors
in the sixteen Local Government Councils of Ekiti State were conducted
on the 7th of December, 2019 where more than fifteen political parties
actively participated.
