
The Ekiti State Government has organized a one-day fundamental ethics and proficiency induction training for the newly employed education officers and therapists in the government special schools.
The event, held at the Special School for the Blind in Ikere Ekiti, brought together participants from the three government special schools in the state.
Declaring the event open, Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, represented by Mrs. Funmilayo Fatoba, Senior Special Assistant on Rehabilitation and Mental Health, acknowledged Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s commitment to children with special needs, which is attracting significant attention in the special schools.
She described the Governor as a PWD-friendly leader who recognizes the unique needs of children with disabilities and the PWD community. Princess Adetoun assured that the state is dedicated to providing necessary facilities and conducive learning environments for the well-being of the students, teachers and therapists.
Guest speakers, including Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, DG Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship; Hon. Adetunji Aribasoye, SSA-OTSD; Alhaji Sulaiman Fattah, SSA Social Inclusion; Mr. Oludare Falana, Director (Personnel) Ekiti State Civil Service Commission; and Mr. Ojareche P.E, Director, Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education, lectured on Punctuality, Mindshift, Classroom Management, Ethics, and Professionalism respectively. They emphasized the importance of commitment, professionalism, integrity, and loyalty in the discharge of their duties.
Also, the principals of the government special schools – Mrs. Adu Olaide, Mr. Salami Oduitan, and Mrs. Ade-Okeya Kikelomo – urged the new officers to maintain good morals, follow strictly the school curriculum and familiarize themselves with the appropriate lesson presentation methods.
The training ended with a vote of thanks from Hon. Akinola Abimbola, SSA Governor’s Office, who charged the participants to apply the lessons learnt in their daily interactions with special children.
