Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi today fulfilled his electoral promise to the people of Ogotun Ekiti in Ekiti South-west LGA and Ipole-iloro in Ekiti West LGA as he flagged off the construction of the link road between the two local governments.
Represented by the deputy governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, the road the Ogotun – ipole-iloro road construction started during the tenure of Governor Segun Oni but abandoned by the Ayo Fayose administration who saw no need to open up the rural areas. The road is now being done under the World Bank Assisted / Ekiti State Rural Access Agricultural Market Program (EK-RAAMP).
In attendance to felicitate with the host royal father, the Ologotun of Ogotun Ekiti Oba Samuel Oyebade during the elaborate ceremony was the Chairman of the state council of Obas, The Alawe of Ilawe, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, the Arajaka of Igbara-odo Ekiti and the Olupole of Ipole iloro.
Reiterating the state government’s determination to open up the the state agricultural petentials, Otunba Egbeyemi said the state government would construct 1000kilometers of rural roads under this program. “Our intention is to fasttrack the process of moving agricultural products from the source to the market because we have great potentials in this regard” he said.
