
The Ekiti State Director General of Signage and Advertisements Agency, Mr Sunkanmi Onipede has solicited the support of Ekiti State House of Assembly so as to improve the revenue generated by the Agency.
Mr Onipede made the plea while playing host to the House of Assembly Committee on Investment, Trade and Industry in his Office.
Briefing the Committee on the activities of the Agency so far, he said that the agency was in shambles before the present administration came on board.
According to him, on his assumption into office, he had started working assiduously to put the Agency on the right track.
He explained that the Agency which was placed under Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service as a unit by the last administration has now be reposition as a full fledge Revenue generating agency with revenue targets while Cost and Capital Consultancy Firm handling the revenue generation for the agency has been disengaged to reposition the Agency for effective delivery.
Mr Onipede who complained about the low tour out of revenue in the state comparing with other neigbouriing states said efforts were being put in place to compete favourably with them bearing in mind all economic factor within Ekiti state.
Speaking on the challenges of the Agency, he said that the Agency needed utility vehicles and some other equipment to enable it perform optimally.
While speaking on the Laws of the Agency, the Director said the agency is currently working on the review of it laws/rate card which had become moribund and appealed to the House of Assembly to assist in passing the laws to move the Agency forward.
The Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Investment, Trade and Industry, Honourable Yemi Osatuyi who commended the efforts of the Director General assured him of their support for the Agency
The Lawmaker advised the Agency to extend their operations to other towns of the state for more coverage to improve the revenue of the Agency.
He also told the Agency to embark on aggressive sensitization and publicity to educate the people on the need to pay their taxes as at when due.
