
Ekiti State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Honourable
Femi Ajayi has declared that only projects with clear-cut means of
financing will be accommodated in the 2020 Budget .
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning made this remarks at
the negotiation and sectoral allocation and Budget envelopes sharing
towards the 2020 Budget in Ado-Ekiti.
Honorable Ajayi asserted that the proposed 2020 Budget will be a
fiscal document that will have meaningful economic impact on the
State, where priority will be accorded projects with external
financing.
He said that 2020 will be a year of landmark projects delivery where
discipline will be applied to the Budget in a way that only what is
achievable will be budgeted for.
The Budget Commissioner also stated that attention will also be given
to project proposals submitted by the various communities during the
just concluded Town Hall meeting of the Governor in the Senatorial
Districts.
Ajayi equally said that the forum will allow all organs of Government
to deliberate on the fiscal proprieties of their MDAs in line with the
five cardinal programmes of Government for year 2020.
He called on all MDAs to be prepared for the challenges of the 2020
fiscal Year as strict fiscal measures will be introduced, urging all
MDAs to prioritise their projects and ensure that only essential ones
are included.
In his remarks while declaring the programme open, the Commissioner
for Finance Hon. Dapo Kolawole explained that the meticulous nature of
the 2020 Budget will only allow the salaries and running cost to be
serviced by the Federal allocation and secure development partners to
Finance critical projects.
The Director General of Office of Transformation Strategy and
Development (OTSD), Professor Mobolaji Aluko stated that the 2019
Budget was prepared on inadequate information but the 2020 Budget will
use all indicators to make it achieve its goals and objectives which
will equally meet international standard.
He said that the emphasis of the 2020 Budget will also be programmed
on service delivery to the people.
