
Fayemi Inaugurates Gender Based Violence, Child Rights Committees. By

Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi Yesterday, Wednesday 10th July, 2019 inaugurated the Gender Based Violence Management (GBVM) and State Child Right Implementation Committees (SCRIC) at the Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti.

The Members of the Committee include the Wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi who is the Chairperson of the Committee, while the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Moji Fafure, Commissioner of Police, Amba and thirteen others were inaugurated as members of the GBVM Committee.
According to the Governor, the Committee is saddled with the responsibility of enforcing laws and fighting against the menace of domestic violence in the State.
“As a State, we have zero tolerance for violence against women and children. We are proud of our stand on this, and we promise to continuously strive to make our society free of all forms of Gender Based Violence”, Fayemi Said.
The Governor congratulated the members of the Committees on the confidence reposed in them by their various organizations for being chosen to serve on the committees. He then urged them to see their appointment as an opportunity to be part of Positive history full of impact.
The Team however had their first meeting immediately after the inauguration in the Office of the Wife of the Governor.
Speaking after the meeting, Erelu Bisi Fayemi explained that the Committee deliberated on issues pertaining to the responsibilities of the Committee in terms of proffering solutions to the challenge of Gender Based Violence in the State.
