
Free, fair, credible polls will not be compromised in Ekiti- SIEC Chair, Aladejana
The Chairman, Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission SIEC Justice Jide Aladejana says the Commision will leave no stone unturned at conducting free, fair and credible polls for all local government areas in the State.
“First of its kind generally acceptable polls to ensure democratically elected Councils’ officials across the sixteen local councils in the state will not be compromised during the forthcoming local government election later in the year”.
Justice Aladejana made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen shortly after the leadership of the commission met with the House of Assembly committee on SIEC headed by the Deputy Speaker Hon. Akeem Jamiu.
Justice Aladejana who described the meeting with the committee as fruitful and encouraging adding that, it will further assist the commission to deliver on its mandate.
Members of the Committee were unequivocally on the need for the commission to work round the clock and deliver credible, fair and free polls that will make the State a reference point on the conduct of acceptable polls in the Country.
The latest development has shown that the Lawmakers in Ekiti State are in comformity with the position of Governor Kayode Fayemi administration’s readiness and resolve at bringing sanity into the State electoral empire to serve People better.
Therefore, SIEC in Ekiti State will soon begin a State- wide consultation, awareness and familiarisation tour to seek the cooperation of all Stakeholders to deliver on its mandate.
“SIEC cannot do it alone and that is why we are liasing with all and sundry especially lovers of Democracy to ensure the succes of the whole process”.
Justice Aladejana also assured all registered political parties in the State of equal treatment before, during and after every local governement election in the State.
The commission will always treat every issue relating to all parties base on electoral law provisions and total neutrality to build the confidence of Ekiti People in the Commission.
While soliciting the cooperation and support of all and sundry towards the Commission, the SIEC Chairman assured the People of the readiness of the body to always listen and make use of genuine and unbaised suggestions to assist the Commision to deliver.
