After 34 years of meritorious service to his fatherland, the immediate past Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Adeniyi Oyebade has retired from military service with a high ovation.
General Oyebade who retired as the 28th Commandant of NDA was honoured with a colourful parade which was attended by the high and mighty in the Nigerian military, captains of industry, the academia, officers, staff, cadets and the NDA community. It was held at the NDA parade ground Afaka.
Speaking during the pulling out parade, Major General Oyebade attributed his success to God Almighty. He gave thanks to God for giving him the privilege of ending his military career as a two star General in the same location where it all started.
He stated that it has been an honour to serve as the 28th Commandant of NDA and be entrusted with over 2000 cadets, adding that it would always remain an indelible memory for him to be involved in shaping the career of young men and women who will later turn out to be the future leaders of the Armed Forces.
Continuing, he described his tenure as challenging yet gratifying owing to his achievements such as infrastructural development, empowerment of soldiers and officers wives, staff welfare, human capacity building and a robust curriculum. He also revealed that a plan to build a counter terrorism village in the Academy for cadet’s training is in the pipeline.
