Like several areas of the state sociopolitical and administrative sectors, the information sector of Kogi State had suffered a lot of battery and needed swift intervention to revamp it before the advent of Governor Yahaya Bello administration. Sadly, the previous government’s never saw the need to touch that sector because it was not an area where they could siphon resources.
The Governor has shown his love and commitment to ensuring that critical infrastructure are given needed laundry for improved overall development of the state. The information sector was not left out of this commitment.
It is in that regard that the New Direction Administration thought it necessary to ensure necessary steps are taken including staffing and construction of edifices that would help the sector to positively and properly project the state to the outside world.
STAFF RECRUITMENT
The administration had in accordance with its transparency mantra, advertised recruitment into the sector across all arms of the state government information dissemination avenues including the ministry of information, Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation and the Kogi State Printing and Publishing Corporation.
It was through that process that it picked capable hands to man the Information Sector. Those that were successful in the recruitment exercise have begun to receive messages preparatory to their resumption for work.
BUILDING OF ULTRA MODERN KOGI STATE PRINTING AND PUBLISHING CORPORATION BUILDING
The state Printing and Publishing Corporation, publishers of The Graphic Newspaper is among some of the worst hit subsectors of the state in terms of infrastructural decay and deficient manpower. The newspaper could also boast of some of the most capable hands on ground, but was hampered by lack of government patronage in terms of tooling and retooling, hence the moribund structure from where it operated since it was founded in 1992 until the building of the ultra modern structure by Governor Yahaya Bello administration.
At this point, it is instructive to note that the Printing and Publishing Corporation is 27 years old, a year younger than the state itself, but unfortunately, this is the first time there is a proper recruitment into the office since the initial recruitment when it was founded.
The new staff are expected to inject new ideas and revamp the office and the information sector in general. We at YBMC are therefore proud to be associated with the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as are the entire people of the state.
ENHANCING POSITIVE OVERALL TURNAROUND FOR KOGI STATE INFORMATION SECTOR
There is no denying the fact that the information sector is being better enhanced by the administration of Governor Bello and the hitherto dampened spirit of the staff of the ministry of information are lifted.
There is now a genuine concern being demonstrated. The Governor is ready and willing to ensure Kogi was presented in a positive light at all times. Kudos Governor Bello. Kudos to the New Direction Administration.
