The Ondo State Police Command announced on Wednesday that it has launched an investigation into the murder of 54-year-old Olakunbi Adene, whose body was discovered in her residence on Oda Road in Akure, the state capital.
Adene was found dead on her bed, lying in a pool of blood, indicating she had been killed. It was reported that she had recently celebrated her 54th birthday with guests just days before her death.
Sources reveal that Adene, a mother of two, had been in good health and showed no signs of illness prior to her murder.
Her husband, Dele Adene, expressed his shock and frustration at the lack of arrests in connection with the case. He questioned why no suspects had been apprehended and suggested that her phone should be tracked. He also raised concerns about why neighbors did not notice anything unusual in the building where she lived.
The deceased’s daughter, Tejumade, shared that she was informed of her mother’s death by her uncle after being unable to reach her mother by phone.
The body of Olakunbi Adene has been taken to a mortuary in Akure. State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway.
