
A devastating fire tore through a home in Tillett Close, Brent, in the early hours of Saturday morning, claiming the lives of a woman and her three children, and leaving two other family members hospitalised.
Superintendent Steve Allen of the Metropolitan Police’s north-west London division addressed the press on Saturday afternoon, describing the incident as a “tragic” and deeply painful event for the local community.“Despite the efforts of the emergency services, I can confirm a woman and three of her children died at the scene,” Allen stated.
“Two other members of the same family were taken to hospital and continue to receive treatment. Our thoughts are with them and with the wider family during this incredibly difficult time.”Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 1:00 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are leading the inquiry in collaboration with the London Fire Brigade.
In a significant development, officers arrested one man outside the property. He remains in custody and is being questioned.The wider family has been informed, and police say support is being provided as investigations continue.
Superintendent Allen acknowledged the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on the community, assuring residents that officers would maintain a visible presence in the area throughout the day.
